Unkempt feet are unsightly and can lower your charm. How often do you take care of your feet? Just like your body, your feet too need some special attention and care. Dry weather conditions, high humidity, lack of care etc. can make your feet dry, rough and flaky and can also cause cracked heels, peeling toenails, painful ingrown nail, overgrowth of cuticles etc. It is important to pamper your feet once in a while to give it the well-deserved moisture boost and to keep it looking healthy and beautiful. You need not go for expensive treatments or pedicures; all you need is a simple and readily available kitchen ingredient- olive oil! Below is how you could use olive oil to soften your feet along with its benefits:
- The skin on the soles of your feet does not have any oil glands. Also, feet are prone to dryness and flakiness. Olive oil does an amazing job of intense moisturizing and feet softening.
- Olive oil nourishes the cuticles and keeps them soft.
- Olive oil soothes the cracked and damaged feet while fading any lines or scars, thus smoothing your skin.
- From moisturizing your cracked feet to improving blood circulation, healing bruises to improving the skin elasticity, olive oil does it all.
WAYS TO USE OLIVE OIL TO SOFTEN FEET:
Overnight treatment- In a bowl, take some olive oil and warm it up. Wash and scrub your feet using pumice stone to remove dead skin cells so that oil gets well absorbed into the skin. Pat dry and apply warm olive oil with gentle massaging movements. Wipe off excess oil and wear clean socks. Do this every time before you go to bed.
Foot cream- In a bowl, add ½ cup of shea butter, ¼ cup of beeswax and ½ cup of olive oil. Melt everything together on a double boiler and mix well. Place it on ice-filled bowl and start whipping. Store the whipped cream in a jar and use it as a foot cream every day after bath.
Note: Use all organic and raw ingredients for best results!
