LEMON TEA RECIPE FOR SORE THROAT

Sore throat is a painful condition that is often caused when tissues become irritated and dry. So it is important to remain well-hydrated to soothe the symptoms. In fact, sipping lemon and honey tea several times a day is known to be a time-tested remedy for reducing mucus and alleviating sore throat.

BENEFITS OF LEMON AND HONEY FOR SORE THROAT:

Lemon Juice- It is loaded with vitamin C that boosts your immunity. Citric acid contained in lemon helps in the breaking up of mucus and it also reduces inflammation. Its antiseptic properties help kill virus or bacteria, while its astringent property creates an unfriendly environment for breeding of germs.

Honey- Honey has antiseptic, anti-fungal and antibacterial properties that do away with viral infections. It helps drain mucus and reduce inflammation. Glucose- Oxidase, an enzyme contained in honey, helps guard against infections.

Things That You Need :

  • Hot water- 1 cup
  • Lemon- ½ (or 1 tbsp lemon juice)
  • Honey- 1 tbsp
  • Fresh ginger- 2 (½ inch slices)
  • Salt- a pinch

Method :

Pour hot water in a cup. Add lemon juice and honey to the water. Add the slices of ginger and stir in a pinch of salt. Mix well so that the honey dissolves completely. Allow this tea to steep for five minutes. After five minutes, use your spoon to press the ginger slices against the bottom of the cup so that the juice comes out.Straining isn’t required post steeping- just sip your tea to soothe sore throat.
