Broke zippers is one of the most common problems. Zippers on the handbag usually get stuck or just would not go further due to some problem in the teeth. These problems prevail ever since the zippers were invented and it has never changed! Here are some DIY repairs for broken zippers:

EASY DIY REPAIRS FOR BROKEN ZIPPERSGRAPHITE PENCIL TRICK

Most of the times, zippers get stuck and totally refuses to go further. When we see no reason as to why it got stuck, it is certainly the teeth. To fix this, just grab a graphite pencil rub the pencil tip on the teeth. rub it multiple times and it should work.

CUT AND REPAIR TRICK

Zippers sometime come off the zipper track, like literally come off from one side. You may think of sliding it back into the zipper teeth but it is impossible. Here is how you could effectively fix this- Cut a deep slit between the teeth of the zipper tape, preferable at the place where zippers meets/starts. Now,  Insert the zip into the other zipper from the slit and zip it up. you will see a deep cut into the teeth. Stitch it properly with your hands and you are done!

BROKEN PULL OFF REPAIR

Zipper pull offs often come off and it can be really tough to zip and unzip without them. But hey, do not worry as this is the easiest thing to fix. All you need is a zipper pull-off alternative like paperclip, fancy ribbons, a key ring etc. Just slide it through the tab on the slider and you have a new zipper pull.

USING A LUBRICANT

When the graphite pencil trick fails to work despite multiple attempts, you can use a lubricant. For lubricating, you may use a candle stick, coconut oil, bees wax, shea butter (if available) etc. After applying the lubricant or lubricants, close the zipper. Make sure you wash/wipe the area  after repairing. If one lubricant doesn’t work, try another one.
