Sometimes your bad hair day has less to do with the weather, and more to do with the residual buildup in your hair. A little bit of leftover styling product can admittedly make hair easier to work with, but past a certain point it needs a thorough clean. Salt can effectively be used to detox your hair and rejuvenate it. Here is how to detox hair with salt but before that, let us know its benefits:
- Salt de-greases hair, removing dead skin cells and dirt, without stripping natural oils.
- It also removes product build-up which gives hair a lift.
- Treats itchy scalp.
- Cleanses the scalp and removes dead skin cells.
- Detoxes hair effectively and opens the hair shafts to take up moisture and retain it.
HOW TO USE SALT FOR DETOXIFYING HAIR:
Things you need: You need 2 tablespoons of sea salt, 1 teaspoon of baby soap flakes, 1 teaspoon of base oil (olive, macadamia, avocado), 3 tablespoons herbal infusion (brewed and filtered green tea+basil leaves+tulsi leaves or simply Shikakai water)and essential oils of your choice.
Method: Grate baby soap into flakes. 1 teaspoon will be enough to create cleansing foam on hair while washing. Then dissolve soap flakes in herbal infusion prepared beforehand until you get smooth liquid. Mix soap base with sea salt and add 5-10 drops essential oils of your choice. Use it like regular shampoo.
SEA SALT BAKING SODA SCRUB
Things you need: 2 tablespoons baking soda, 1 ½ teaspoon sea salt and 2 cups water (for watery solution)
Method: Mix up baking soda, sea salt and water. Dissolve the contents properly in water and pour over scalp with head upside down so that the solution reaches the scalp. Massage scalp for 5 minutes and wash off. Condition as usual. You may also make a paste of baking soda and sea salt by using less water and scrub the scalp.
