Honey is one such golden ingredient that can protect, moisturize, clean and make your healthy look shiny! In my opinion, beautiful hair is healthy hair, and healthy hair is not the product of what you find on the shelves in stores, but rather in your own kitchen. A natural humectant, honey attracts moisture. It’s also full of antioxidants and nutrients to feed hair follicles that house the live part of hair, encouraging hair growth. Here are some of the ways that you could try to wash hair using honey (tried and tested on my no-poo hair!)
Mix ¼ cup of organic raw honey with just enough fresh water to thin it out to the point where you can spread it around your hair. Apply it all your hair and scalp ad scrub like you would do using shampoo. Let it sit for 30 minutes and wash using warm water.
If you have really dry and damaged hair, this recipe is for you- Combine half teaspoon coconut oil and half cup honey and blend thoroughly. Work into damp hair as you would shampoo. Let sit for 10 minutes, and then rinse with warm water. You may also use olive oil instead of coconut oil.
Mix together honey and ACV. Apply as you would shampoo to damp hair, and let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse out with warm water.
You may also add little honey to your regular shampoo if you are not a no-poo fan!
