UNUSUAL USES FOR VANILLA ESSENCE Most of us know vanilla essence as an ingredient in cakes and other recipes. Have you ever thought of using vanilla essence any other way? I have a bottle of vanilla essence lying in the refrigerator which I seldom use, and I am sure many of you must be having at least one bottle of vanilla essence lying useless! Here I am with some unusual ways of using vanilla essence:

Having trouble getting rid of that bad odour in your refrigerator? Wipe down the inside of the fridge with vanilla extract. To prolong the fresh vanilla scent, soak a cotton ball or a piece of sponge with vanilla extract and leave it in the refrigerator.

If you don’t like the unpleasant smell of fresh paint in your house, mix 1 tablespoon vanilla extract into the paint can when you open it. The house will smell delicious!

Vanilla is a potent skin saver, thanks to its antioxidants, which help soothe irritated skin.

How to use: Squeeze juice of 1 lemon into a bowl; discard seeds. Slice open 5 vanilla beans lengthwise, and scrape out seeds with a spoon. Add vanilla seeds, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, and 3 drops vanilla essential oil to lemon juice; mix ingredients well. Apply scrub to your face (avoiding your eyes), and massage in for a few minutes; rinse with warm water, then splash with cold water.

Everybody likes the smell of vanilla except bugs. Dilute 1 tablespoon vanilla extract with 1 cup water and wipe the mixture on your exposed skin to discourage mosquitoes, blackflies, and ticks.
