Bleach is essential to keep your white clothes whiter and prevents it from turning yellow. The commercial bleach that we normally use damages the cloth in long run making it brittle and prone to damage. Apart from this, bleach also has negative effects on the user’s health like It can also cause burns to the skin and even nervous system damage. Beyond causing its own problems, chlorine bleach also has some dangerous potential reactions with other chemicals and materials.
Homemade bleach is always safe and has no negative impact on the user’s health or people around it. Here are some natural bleach alternatives:
HYDROGEN PEROXIDE + LEMON JUICE RECIPE
You need 1 ½ cups diluted hydrogen peroxide (3%), ½ cup lemon juice, and 9 cups water.
Combine all the ingredients and store in a bottle. Use it to bleach your clothes like you would do with commercial bleach. This solution can also be used to disinfect surfaces and also remove mildew from clothes and other surfaces.
BAKING SODA + HYDROGEN PEROXIDE + LEMON JUICE RECIPE
You need 5 cups water, ¾ cups diluted hydrogen peroxide (3%), ¼ cup lemon juice and ½ cup baking soda.
Combine all the ingredients and store it in a jar or bottle. Use 1 cup for each load, washing with hottest water setting available.
HYGROGEN PEROXIDE + CITRIC ACID + LEMON ESSENTIAL OIL RECIPE
You need ¾ cup 3% hydrogen peroxide, 1 tablespoon citric acid, 15-20 drops lemon essential oil and 5-6 cups water.
Combine all the ingredients and swish around until citric acid is dissolved. Store in a big jar, bottle or whatever you prefer and use as you would bleach.
WHITE VINEGAR + HYDROGEN PEROXIDE RECIPE
These two ingredients not only have bleaching properties but they are also anti-microbial in nature. You need 1 cup hydrogen peroxide and 1 cup white vinegar. Combine these ingredients and pour in a bottle. Use it like you would normally use bleach.
