Do you smoke or work in a greasy kitchen? Are you an athlete who sweats a lot? Then you probably don’t have a great smelling hair! Sweat, humidity, excess sebum and dandruff can make your hair smell pungent or maybe not so great. There are a lot of hair perfumes available commercially but you certainly so not want to use it all the time thanks to a long list of chemicals. Using essential oils for hair perfume is a great way to make your hair smell fantastic, feel great and promote wellness! Here is how you can use them:
VANILLA MINT HAIR OIL/SERUM
You need 15 drops vanilla oil, 10 drops peppermint essential oil and 2 oz jojoba oil. Combine all the ingredients and store in a small bottle. The vanilla in this mix adds a warm balance to the poignant scent of peppermint. Use this combo directly on scalp and then rinse off with water as a simple refresher for your hair.
LAVENDER HAIR MIST
This natural homemade spray will leave your hair feeling refreshed and manageable. Put 1/2 cup distilled water / rose water or witch hazel in a bowl and add 5 to 10 drops of essential or fragrance oil like pure lavender oil. Pour the water into a spray bottle shake well before use. Simply spray as lightly as you want on freshly washed and style as usual.
ESSENTIAL OIL SHAMPOO
Mix together 1/2 cup distilled water, 1/4 cup liquid castile soap, 2 teaspoons avocado oil, 1/8 teaspoon pure peppermint essential oil, 1/8 teaspoon tea tree essential oil and 10-15 drops of citrus essential oil of your choice- lemon, orange etc. use the final product as your regular shampoo. For additional fragrance, you may also add few drops of essential oil to conditioner after using this shampoo.
