Incorporating veggies to your diet is a good thing since they are abundant in minerals and nutrients required for a balanced diet. One can have veggies in all forms- fried, in form of salads, raw, steamed, boiled etc. The best way to have veggies is by steaming it (especially if you are diet conscious) because it retains all the nutrients better than any other way of cooking! Though over-steaming the veggies can make them overly soft, change texture and can also result into loss of essential nutrients! Below is how you could steam your veggies perfectly:

HOW TO STEAM VEGETABLES

USING STEAM BASKET (TRADITIONAL WAY OF STEAMING)

For this method, you need a pot or a vessel that is hollow and a metal steamer basket. Wash the veggies thoroughly and dice them/slice them. Fill water in the vessel or pot and turn on the flame. Once the water starts boiling, place the steamer basket on top and toss in all the sliced and diced veggies. Put a lid and let it steam for about 15 minutes or less depending on the type of veggies you have put in. Veggies that take longer to cook can be kept at the bottom and veggies that cook quickly can be kept at the top.

MICROWAVE

For this method, you need a microwave bowl or plate and a damp cloth; and of course a microwave! Wash the veggies thoroughly and dice them/slice them. Toss all the veggies into the microwavable bowl or microwavable plate and cover them with a damp cloth. Microwave the veggies and check them every 50 seconds. Some veggies cook sooner than the other; in that case, separate the veggies that cook sooner and later and microwave accordingly.
