Change in climate will always make your nose suffer! A little climatic change can make your nose runny and then congested, especially if you have allergies or low immunity. Nasal congestion in simple terms is known as a ‘blocked nose’ or ‘stuffy nose’. This happens when there is swelling in the nasal cavity, leading to a buildup of mucus. As a result, it becomes difficult to breathe normally.
Steam treatment can unclog the nose by loosening mucous and make breathing easy. Here is a quick recipe for steaming solution and how to do it the right way:
Stir 5 drops of pure eucalyptus essential, peppermint essential oil and also put few garlic cloves oil into 1 quart of boiling water in a heatproof bowl. Cover the bowl with lid for few minutes.
Place 3 teaspoons OF dried peppermint (or three peppermint tea bags) in a small heatproof bowl and add boiling water. the menthol in peppermint is a natural decongestant that eases. You can also add other herbs like thyme, basil that has antibacterial properties.
Place the water bowl on a table over a height you are comfortable with.
Take a thick towel, put it over your head and tilt your face over the steam coming out from bowl. Be careful not to get your face to close to the hot water, keep your face 8 to 10 inches above the water.
Let the steam fall on your face, neck and nose. Slowly breathe in the fumes. Do not do this quickly as you might feel uneasy and suffocated.
After 5 minutes, you can blow your nose and repeat if you still feel mucous in your nasal passage.
After you are done, wash your face and clean your nose thoroughly and pat dry. You may repeat this everyday until all the congestion is gone and you are back to normal.
