Tea tree oil is a well-known disinfectant and has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Due to its antimicrobial properties, tea tree oil is used in skin as well as hair care. Not only does it help treat dandruff, itchy scalp and lice but also strengthen hair follicles and keep scalp clean and free of build-up. Here are multiple ways you can utilize tea tree oil for hair:

Never use tea tree oil directly on the scalp or skin, always use it diluted. Here, you can use olive oil to dilute tea tree oil. In a bowl, take lukewarm olive oil and add few drops of tea tree oil to it. Apply it on your scalp and hair and wear a shower cap and go to sleep. Wash hair the next morning with mild shampoo and condition as usual.
Take some coconut oil in a bowl and add few drops tea tree oil to it. Put 1 or 2 drops of tea tree oil mixture onto a cotton ball and dab it gently on the affected area on scalp. Leave it on for a few hours or overnight. Those who have sensitive skin may reduce the concentration of tea tree oil.
