Mosquitoes can be a serious pain especially when you are heading out for picnic, sports events, yard work or just for relaxing in a garden. If you have ever been out in the evenings to such places, you’ll know just how bad the “skeeters” are down there. There are a lot of mosquito repellents available commercially but it seems, these days we’re looking for things that are a little less toxic to the skin. Fortunately there are natural alternatives to the toxic and chemical laden commercial mosquito repellents. Here are few recipes for you:

MOSQUITO REPELLENT SPRAY RECIPERECIPE 1:

Things you need: You need 1.5 ounces vodka, 25 drops peppermint essential oil and 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil.

Method: Use a clean and sterilized spray bottle for this. Add vodka to the spray bottle. Now, add 25 drops of peppermint essential oil followed by 1 teaspoon jojoba oil. Shake well and your very own mosquito repellent spray is ready! Spray onto exposed skin and/or clothing, avoiding eyes and mucous membranes.

RECIPE 2:

Things you need: You need lemon eucalyptus oil, sunflower oil and witch hazel in 50:50 ratio.

Method: Mix 1 part lemon eucalyptus oil and 10 parts of sunflower oil and witch hazel (50:50 ratio). Rub or spray on exposed skin avoiding area around the eyes.

RECIPE 3:

Things you need: You need 1 tablespoon of witch hazel, 1 tablespoon of vodka and 1 ½ tablespoon of grapeseed essential oil. Increase the quantity as needed.

Method: combine all the ingredients and pour in a spray bottle. Spray it on skin before leaving the house of before sleeping if you have mosquitoes in your house too. Shake well before every use.
