New car headlights look sparkly, shiny and clear but get foggy and cloudy after usage due to dust and scratches. Winters too can make your car headlights cloudy and the light intensity won’t look as bright. It is necessary to take care of the headlights as much as the car! Here is how you can clean foggy and cloudy car headlights:

You need a piece of cloth and toothpaste. Take a dollop of toothpaste and apply it on the cloth. Begin buffing the headlight using the cloth and let the toothpaste work for few minutes. Do not add any water yet. After sometime, when the toothpaste starts feeling dry, dampen the cloth and again begin buffing. The toothpaste will foam a bit. Wipe off with a dry cloth after 2-3 minutes and your headlights will be sparkling as new.

Firstly, wipe down the headlights with a cloth soaked in a cleaning solution or soapy water. Spray some water on it and wipe using a dry cloth. Now, make a baking soda and vinegar paste. Apply it on the headlights and keep it for 5 minutes. Begin buffing with a damp cloth for few minutes and wipe it off with the same cloth. Spray some water on the headlight and clean it.

If your car headlights have visible scratches, stubborn dirt build up or milky textured unevenness, you can use a sand paper. Soak sandpaper in water for sometime until it gets soft and lightly sand the lens with light strokes. Keep the area wet while you are doing this to avoid formation of new scratches. Once you are done with this for approx. 5-8 minutes, spray some water on the lens and wipe it off using damp cloth. The lens will be sparkling!
